Every time its raining my brain brings back some wonderful memories of my aunt making this big pot of soup. Sometimes it was chicken & rice, sancocho, beef & corn, pigeon peas or cod fish with tostones.( I could go on and on ) It gets so real that I can even smell the aromas. This for me it's the ultimate comfort food. A dish serve with a side of great memories and the sense that you are in a cloud.
I have to say if you have the opportunity to grab one of those great recipes that maybe your mom, grandma or even the neighbor use to prepare back then, do it ! There is nothing better than having that piece of personal history to pass down and to share with loved ones. Personally I prepared yesterday a great green plantain or sopa de platanos con jamon y boyitas. I have to confess that I was missing aranitas, fritters made out of green plantain, but I was in heaven.
Needless to say that after the soup I went to sleep as a baby !
